This recipe is one of the simplest I've ever created! I originally came up with it when I was following a low-carb diet, but you can absolutely serve it with some pasta, toasted bread for dipping, and a Caesar salad if you prefer. You can also switch things up by using chicken sausage or even shrimp. Whether you're preparing a quick meal for one person or a large group, this recipe is a breeze. Just line up the sausages in a pan, pop it in the oven, and voilà—dinner is served!
Serving size: 2 people
Time: 25 minutes
Ingredients:
- 4 mild Italian sausage
- 2 mozzarella cheese sticks
- 1 12-16 ounce jar of your favorite pasta sauce
Directions:
- Preheat the oven to 400 degrees.
- In a pan or griddle, partially cook the sausage for about 5 minutes on each side.
- Slice down the middle but don’t cut all the way through the sausage. You don’t want it to split in half, if possible.
- Cut the mozzarella in half and place 1 half of the cheese in each sausage.
- Pour the pasta sauce in a shallow dish and place the sausages on top.
- Bake at 400 degrees for 12 minutes or until the cheese is bubbling. Enjoy!
